Hello from Judaica!
This morning's discussion groups went great. Youngest Onondaga and Cayuga looked at maps of what we think the Israelites' route in the desert may have been, and then decorated cakes to reflect that journey. Middle Onondaga and Cayuga created dances based on prayers to reflect how one could pray without words, and Oldest Onondaga and Cayuga learned about Maimonides' Ladder of Tzedakah. Each camper then made a cartoon reflecting one level of that important ladder of giving. Youngest Seneca and Mohawk spoke about cliques and Jewish values, while Middle Seneca and Mohawk explored which aspects of Judaism are most important to them and why. Oldest Seneca and Mohawk learned about the holy Temples in Jerusalem, and discussed the concept of sacrifice. Tusc discussed belief in God, and explored what it means to question God, or believe in something that can't really be described or explained, and the LITs did an interactive art project on how change in the world comes to be, and the role humans play in shaping the future. Thanks to all the staff who made these discussion groups come to life. Looking forward to restful Shabbat afternoon and a wonderful week to come!
Shabbat Shalom,
