Thoughts from an LIT

One of the most intense and challenging events of a color war is the Iron woman/man. This year, however, the event was expanded to include more campers. In a morning titled "Man on Fire," in keeping with the fire and ice theme, campers and staff pushed themselves to the limits. Two girls and two boys from each team from Tusc swam, biked, and ran in a lengthy triathlon, followed by female and male staff from each team. Meanwhile, two Senecans and two Mohicans from each team ran a mini marathon (laps around camp). This year was the first that younger campers were included in this part of the program: in a biathlon, two Cayugans and Onondogans from each team had to alternate running and dragging tires. Additionally, campers showed off their basketball skills in Hotspot, with the rest of camp cheering them on. The athletes were not the only ones sweating: staff and campers ran alongside each participant, offering encouragement. Helping each other on events as draining as the ones this morning is just one of the examples of the teamwork and dedication that shine during Color War.
