Memoirs From a Mohican

Hey camp fans, my name is Mike Lape and I'm an activity counselor for middle Mohawk this session. As your blogger for today, I can't wait to tell you about all the exciting things happening here at CSL. With all the difficult weather over the past 24 hours, one would think that camp couldn't fully enjoy a typical day. Contrary to that belief, all of our campers had fun, productive days without any issues.

While the morning schedule was filled with normal everyday visits to our specialty areas, the afternoon was a completely different story. The harder rain began to fall during rest hour, yet the CSL staff continued to maintain our mindset that weather will not deter the fun. Afternoon hobbies were an absolute blast and several groups had some memorable experiences. My personal favorite moment of the day came during an epic session in speedball hobby group. Despite the incredible downpour, all of our campers showed they were tough as nails and that water wasn't that much of a problem. Oldest Mohican Casey Goldberg put the icing on the cake with an incredible spinning catch for three points.

It's safe to say that I have had a wonderful time watching these great kids grow after just a few weeks here at CSL. It's just a magical process that continues to impress me summer after summer. I can't wait to watch all of their hard work come to fruition tonight at the camp talent show, more commonly known as Campstock 2011! Have a great day and thanks for reading.
