Today, 7/18, was Cayuga Day! The day started off with a normal wake up and breakfast, with the hope that campers would think it was an ordinary camp day. After a breakfast announcement made by Gregg and Lisa, the campers finally heard the amazing news. With that, the cayugans headed back to the village to pack up their things and get ready for the day ahead.
The day began with the campers boarding the bus and heading over to the Watkins Glen theater for a private showing of Cars 2. The campers loved the movie and it was certainly a hit.
Next, we headed off to the Cornell Plantations where we enjoyed Sammy's pizza! The Cayuga staff, however, definitely ordered a tad too much (10 sheet pizzas), but the campers were able to power through most of it.
After looking at the magnificent sculptures prepared by Cornell students of the past, we departed for Ithaca Falls. There, the campers swam by a gorgeous waterfall and enjoyed Ithaca's finest ice cream, Purity. The campers gobbled that up, and with that, only our final destination lied ahead, the joint campout with Cayuga and Onondaga.
After a hot bus ride to Candor, NY, home of the Houck family property, the boys and girls had a fantastic night with kabobs and freshly husked corn. It truly was a feast, and the campers enjoyed every minute of it. The kids now are soundly asleep, and it is a beautiful night here in Candor. We will be returning tomorrow after a delectable chocolate chip pancake breakfast!
For now,
