Hello CSL Families and Friends,
Mohawk had a very enriching program on Saturday evening. We had Mohawk History Night. The goal of this program was to provide insight into our past in order to help us establish our legacy as Mohawk 2014.
“The moment is now. Our Legacy is forever.” This has been our theme of Mohawk this summer. Legacy is an important aspect of Camp, especially Mohawk. We want our legacy to be associated with brotherhood, positivity, growth, leadership, and success. In order to develop and build our legacy we had to provide a history of our village. We were joined by several former Mohawk Unit Head’s for our Mohawk History Night. Jon Broder (1990, 1993), Ari Baum (2005-2006), and Greg Kreitzer (2011-2012) each shared stories, insights, and thoughts related to Mohawk, specifically to their time running the village. Campers listened with amazement and followed up with thoughtful questions. It was very encouraging to see all of Mohawk so focused and engaged.
Other portions of the night were dedicated to doing “Mohawk things” such as Mohawk American League, cookout for dinner, and Mass Monkey’s. And it should be noted that Mass Monkey’s are a Mohawk tradition, no other villages may claim to do a “Mass Monkey.”
Overall the program was a huge success. We want to thank our fellow Mohicans Jon, Ari, and Greg for joining us and giving up their time to be a part of Mohawk History Night. The campers had a great time and really took a lot from it.
In 10 weeks, 10 months, or 10 years, we want the Mohawk 2014 legacy to be remembered for what we are…greatness. Once a Mohican, always a Mohican.
Sincerely,
Max Krieger
