Pine Tree Post: Camper Final Campfire Speech

Here is C-5 camper Eli's final campfire speech representing the village of Cayuga:

When I walk into the village of Cayuga, I feel very different. But at the same time I feel exactly the same. By this I mean that when I walk into the village of Cayuga, I feel more at home than I do in my real home. I also feel as comforts me as I do in my real home. Camp is my home away from home.

Teamwork and friendship. These two words come to mind when I think Cayuga.

In 2011, my first year of camp, my bunk and some people in the older bunks helped make a store. At first, the store was run by me, Ben, Steven, Colby, and Ethan. We made 25 cents our first day. The second day we made no money. Then, some people in the older bunks saw what we were doing and wanted to join in. They did, and by the end of the session we raised $100.75. This shows that in the village of 'Uge, if we all use teamwork and collaboration we can do great things.

2012 passed, and them came my third summer. This year changed my view of camp mentally and changed me physically. This was the year I got very sick. When my mom dropped me off at the office porch, I saw all of my friends. Even though I was in fights with some of the people, those people were one of the first people to be on top of me during the giant hug. This proves that in the village of Cayuga, at the end of the day, we are all best friends.
