This session, my first session at camp Seneca lake, I partook in Culinary Arts and Sciences.
This hobby taught me both individual and group skills. This hobby also taught me how to calmly and efficiently work with others in a chaotic environment. I walked into this hobby not sure of what I would learn from it, but not only did I learn how to prepare dishes ranging from 7 layer dips to raspberry tarts, but I learned an aspect of teamwork like none other -- an aspect more than just saying "nice job." One where we all worked together to prepare something that afterwards we could all enjoy and learn something from, also.
For our hobby culmination, we took a trip to Marks Pizzeria and prepared our own personal pies. This was not only yet another fun experience, but another learning opportunity. I saw what a real kitchen was like with real workers, where a real job would take place, and I got to make my own delicacy in it! This hobby was an outstanding experience that left me with many delicious recipes and many lessons well learned.
