Coming into the August session I had heard a few things about color war; the intense desire to win, the team effort, but nothing could prepare me for Color War 7. I came into the color war program at the best possible time. The already fierce competition was enhanced by the fact that this year would break the 3:3 tie. As soon as it began, I saw people exert themselves and put everything they had into a variety of events. whether it was a best of 7 sports games, spelling bee, or live speed painting. this is part of what I believe makes Color War such an interesting program. The fact that while someone was giving it their all in basketball or water polo, yet all come together with a common goal for events such as apache is amazing. Although at the end of the two days people were left exhausted, we all still felt accomplished as we watched our team in their efforts to win. My team lost, but that did not take away from my first experience in Color War. If anything, it has motivated me to win the gold next year.
