From the Judaica Director's Desk

I would be remiss if I failed to begin my final Judaica blog post of 2013 without thanking three individuals. To John Golden and Aaron Cantor who provided me with the privilege of doing what I truly love and to Ari Baum who facilitated my superior experience by structuring an organized, efficient programming environment: Thank you.  They are the ‘real deal,’ enough said.

With a welcomed second August Judaica period, I used several quotes that helped shape the way I see the world and connected them to Jewish identity concepts we explored in our previous August session. The quotes which served as the starting point of our discussion were etched in my mind since graduating Clayton High School in 1989:

The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.

-William Blake
(inside cover of book ‘No One Here Gets Out Alive’)
Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced.
-James Baldwin
(office wall of freshman year guidance councelor)
(AP English with Dr. Puhr)
Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die life is a broken winged bird that can not fly.
-Langston Hughes
(beside my picture in senior year book)
Money doesn’t talk, it screams
-Bob Dylan
There is always some kid who may be seeing me for the first time or last time. I owe him my best.
-Joe DiMaggio
In closing, two public service announcements:
Thank you to the superior new media guru Neil Pickus for helping me understand how to access an audience.
Finally, I implore you to visit:
