From Caroline, Color War

Excitement. Nerves. Anticipation. All these and many other emotions capture how the 35 israeLITes, including myself felt as we drove down camp road on August 8th. Our experience in Israel was life changing. We grew as individuals and learned about our Jewish identity. There was never a dull moment in Israel, however constantly in the back of our minds were the wonders of what was going on at camp or if people even noticed we were gone and missed us.

When we arrived at camp all our former staff and many of our friends were waiting at the office to greet us. We were all so happy to be back, a happiness that has no words, many people were crying and everyone welcomed us with open arms and immediately we felt back at home.

As we entered the color war radius, our group's excitement grew and grew. As the days went on and we discovered actually how much work went into programming and running such a large event, our appreciation for the programming staff and all who have helped in past color wars increased exponentially.

Working closely with the programming staff, we were exposed to all the different tasks and adversities that they face during programs. We have seen the determination and diligence it takes to have a successful color war and we will all utilize these traits in future endeavors. We have learned about our strengths and weaknesses, our bonds as a group have been strengthened and we all share a common pride for what we have accomplished in the past three days.

Although our time at camp this summer was short, I guarantee it was five days we will never forget. Thank you to all the staff who helped us run this incredible event and thank you to all the staff and campers who participated in the program, giving it there all and making this program the best color war yet.
