Despite the troubling forecast, we had an action packed day down at the waterfront. Fortunately the storm held off until after forth period, but it did bring incredible sailing conditions throughout the day. This morning beginner sailing and racing sailing hobby groups had the rare pleasure and challenge of sailing in 15 to 20 mile an hour winds with 3 to 4 foot waves. Both groups succeeded in their objective of tacking upwind while getting a feel for the various boats. Later in the day, Tuscarora made a visit and truly made the most of the conditions at hand. Because the wind remained so strong, we had to restructure our normal activities. We sailed, kayaked, rowed, swam and a lucky few got a jet ski ride with the waterfront director. After seeing how Tusc made the most of the far from ideal conditions, I couldn't help but think of the old fishing quote, "time and tide wait for no man." The storm held off just long enough to finish the day strong and after a short storm, a beautiful rainbow appeared. It was the perfect way to cap off an amazing day.
