This week has been going great. M3 participated in an engaging discussion about identity, and C4 thought about their Jewish identity and hopes for the future while answering open-ended questions about life. A huge thank you to Leah Friedman, Judaica-Arts specialist extraordinaire, for leading that fantastic C4 discussion. This morning O2 and O1 worked on leading the Birkat, sang songs and prayers, and decorated a group mural of blessings and thanks. Another huge thank you to Kati Andersson, O1 counselor with a beautiful voice, for helping to lead those periods. It's been a great teamwork week.
You may notice that we haven't had as many Judaica periods this week! That's because Tuesday was Dig Day! Thanks to a generous grant from a CSL family we were able to bring Dig the Past to Camp Seneca Lake. They set up a big archaeological dig behind the O-Rec, and all campers in Onondaga and Cayuga, as well as youngest Mohawk and Seneca, participated in the program. Dig the Past staff led campers in a discussion about what life was like in Israel over two thousand years ago, as well as how what we now see as an archaeological dig came to be. Campers saw photos of archaeological sites, and got a chance to dig for their archaeological treasures! Thank you to the great Dig the Past team, and to all the CSL staff who helped make this program so successful.
