Hey friends and families of CSL!,
Down on the Waterfront there have been drastic changes over the last few years. As camp keeps growing, so does the Waterfront and its programs. This session is the second session that the Super Sail program has been implemented into normal periods. Our Super Sail program was designed by our Assistant Waterfront Director, Ben Holtzman. This program was created to make use of our three Hunter sailboats as a tool for a more intensive and complex sailing program. These two hour periods take up a whole morning or afternoon session at the Waterfront to insure that campers have a sufficient amount of time spent dedicated to hands on learning. Each camper gets the chance to skipper the boat with the help of a sailing instructor along with learning the parts of the boat and how they work.

Super Sail is not the only change that the Waterfront has endured this summer. Thanks to our many generous donors, the Waterfront has accumulated quite the collection of motor boats. Joining the Waterfronts army of boats we have received a reconditioned 1976 MasterCraft Stars and Stripe, a 1989 Bayliner we have dubbed the Delorian due to its sleek 80’s look, and a Sundancer party boat from the millennium.
Because of all the boats the Waterfront has, we have been able to grow the number of bunks that have waterfront at the same time. Moving from four different programs to six, our staff is able to fulfill the campers desire to be at the Waterfront. The programs range from Kayaking, Canoeing, Waterskiing, Wakeboarding, Sailing, and Super Sailing. Another great activity that has been added this summer is fishing as a leisure activity for Shabbat choice periods and alternative Waterfront periods. The party boat is used for bunk nights, fishing trips, and will soon be used for other specialty areas around camp including Judaica, A&C, and Nature. Amazing to think that as recently as 2008 that only three bunks would be at the Waterfront for just one period at a time!
