Dear CSL Community:
It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Maggie
Rose Melito as a Tusc Counselor for the 2014 summer. While this will be Maggie’s first experience at CSL, it was
immediately clear that she was the perfect fit. Maggie has extensive experience working with adolescents in
a variety of places and capacities from organized athletics in Babylon, New
York to service learning in Kingston, Jamaica. Her passion for working with young people goes hand-in-hand
with her fluency in photography and social media.
Originally from Long Island, Maggie graduated from Babylon
High School in 2010. She then
matriculated to SUNY New Paltz (expecting to graduate in May) where she quickly
became close friends with long-time CSLer and fellow-Tusc Counselor, Talia
Tesler. Maggie is an extremely
active and versatile community-oriented person and always has been. She is an avid lacrosse player and a
two-year captain for the New Paltz team.
Maggie was also captain of her cheerleading squad in Babylon and has
also overseen various causes for aspiring kids in these arenas.
Maggie has previously worked for the Town of Babylon Parks
and Recreation Department in Social Media, the Town of Babylon Supervisor’s
Office, and as a Program Developer for the Babylon Summer Program. And she spent last summer working as a community
developer/educator in Jamaica. All
the while, Maggie has immersed herself in the New Paltz community across a wide
variety of endeavors.
“I have been
hearing camp stories from Tali for years and always felt a strong desire to
become a part of it. Clearly Tusc
is the crowned jewel of the CSL Experience and I feel extremely honored to have
the opportunity to be a part of it.
It will be an incredible learning experience getting to know all of
these new people, becoming a part of the traditions, but also bringing an
outside voice and perspective. It
really feels like everything I have done over my life has been leading up to
this point and I couldn’t be more excited!”
We are thrilled to have Maggie at CSL this summer and as a
part of the Tusc 2014 Staff.
Sincerely,
Ari Baum, Assistant Director & Tusc
Program Coordinator
