Dear CSL Community:
It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of our final Tusc Counselor for 2014 – Mike Gardy. This will be Mike’s fifth summer on staff at CSL, third as a Tusc counselor. He joins a very small group in the 35-summer history of Tusc to be on staff three times. And Mike becomes yet another Tusc 2007 alumni on the CSL staff this summer, joining Rachel Rosenbaum, Shayna DeMari, Talia Tesler, and Isaac Messina on the Tusc 2014 staff.
Originally born in South Africa, Mike grew up in Brighton, New York, graduating from Brighton High School in 2010. He has since attended the University of Maryland, graduating in just a few weeks. An Environmental Science and Technology Major with a focus on Natural Resource Management, Mike has been involved in these sorts of endeavors for years both in and out of camp from its Tiyulim program in 2013 to his native South Africa on several occasions. Mike is a legendary fire-builder at CSL dating back to his camper days.
It has been a long process getting Mike back to camp and Tusc this summer, but he couldn’t be more excited:

“Graduating next month, I didn’t know what the summer held in store, but I hoped all along that I could get back to CSL for another summer. My two summers as a Tusc counselor were incredible experiences that I wouldn’t trade for anything, and I am so excited to have another opportunity at it.”
